Virtual Bootcamp

In order to comply with social distancing requirements in Spring 2020 due to COVID-19, we developed a modular course ("Virtual Bootcamp") for PGY-1 basic skills training designed to facilitate asynchronous learning. The subject matter is based on the ABOS Modules for PGY-1 residents.

Key differences include:

1. Lectures presented using videoconferencing and recorded to allow for asynchronous learning based on learner schedules (variable due to redeployment or service obligations)

   • Inclusion of teaching videos from AAOS OVT/VuMedi/YouTube to facilitate "flipped" classroom learning

   • Problem-based learning

2. Take Home Kits for Skills Training

   • Weekly kits for skills modules

     • Based on ABOS guidelines

     • Based on published validated skills tasks or techniques
